Town of Mount Royal also known as TMR, is a classically beautiful, upscale, quiet, residential neighborhood located in the central part of Montreal just below Jean Talon Ouest and Cote Des Neiges. TMR which was founded in 1912, is North of Outremont and South of Ville St Laurent. Since This is an older Montreal neighborhood where the homes reflect a classical architectural beauty. Most of the homes have an old world charm like Westmount except here the streets are flat vs hilly. The streets are not the easiest to navigate as the urban plan is not exactly grid style, but more of a maze. One of the nicest attributes of this neighborhood is that many of the enclaves have lots of lush green spaces and the streets are lined with majestic, mature trees. There is a variety of housing styles from large detached cape cod style cottages to new condo developments in the center of town. There are three main sections of shops and businesses, one being in the center of town, another located at the end of Lucerne Avenue, and the large Rockland Shopping Center. The population is approximately 20,000 people and there is a mix of both English and French speaking people. The TMR recreation centre located in the heart of the town is a real community gem. The center has a fantastic selection of courses from Pilates to pottery. There is also an indoor and outdoor skating arena along with other great sports offered.
The Commission scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys (CSMB) operates Francophone public schools.[17]
The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) operates Anglophone public schools in the town.
