Mont-Royal A Gem Of A Neighborhood
Mont-Royal is a gem of a neighborhood and one of the best places to live in Montreal! This quartier, often referred to as TMR, is a small enclave of beautiful and charming homes surrounded by an abundance of green spaces. Not only does the “town” as it’s often referred to, have atleast 30 parks, but it also claims to have as many trees as it does inhabitants. In 2008 Mount Royal was designated a National Historic Site of Canada.
Centrally located in the center of Montreal, “the town has a surface area of 7.43 km² and a population of 21,146 (Gazette officielle du Québec, 2019)” and is strategically near the main highways (Autoroutes 20 and 40) and (Autoroutes 15 and 13).
There’s also a great public transport system in place with (STM) bus lines 16, 73, 92, 100, 115, 119, 124, 165, 368, 460 and 535 or by metro to Acadie and Namur stations, both of which are located just outside the Town limits. The Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT), on its Deux-Montagnes suburban train line has stops at two stations, Mont-Royal and Canora, , which takes passengers to and from downtown Montreal in less than 10 minutes.
Aside from this area’s charm and beauty, this is a fantastic neighborhood to raise a family. Good schools are a big draw for many. Another wonderful feature is the town’s recreation center which is nothing less than excellent. Whether you want to paint, do pilates or learn how to do pottery on the wheel, the center has it all. The sports facilities such as an arena, an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts, encourage a healthy lifestyle as well as community spirit. The town also has it’s very own library! There’s a small but sweet commercial town center in the heart of the district, with restaurants, stores, and boutiques. On the other side of the town, you’ll find the Rockland shopping mall. Off Lucerne Rd, the newer development, Carré Lucerne, features a large Provigo supermarket, restaurants and harware store.
With an average home price of over a million, the neighborhood is considered upscale and enjoys a diverse demographic of both French and English speakers.
